Hoffman Estates High School alumna Sarah Wille (Class of 2014; HEHS bowling and volleyball student-athlete) is now a member of the 2018 Team USA Bowling team. Sarah earned her spot on the Team USA Bowling roster thanks to a strong performance at The Orleans Bowling Center in Las Vegas during the United States Bowling Congress Team USA Trials, which were held January 3 – 7, 2018.
Sarah finished in the top 30 in each of the five qualifying rounds in Las Vegas. After beginning the week in 15th place, she steadily moved up the field and made her move on day four with an 11th-place showing. Sarah entered the top 10 of the overall standings after round four and finished the week in seventh place overall with 106 points. This marks the first Team USA selection for Sarah, who was also an Honorable Mention All-American for the McKendree University in 2017, when the McKendree Bearcats won the NCAA National Championship.
Being a member of Team USA places Sarah in an elite group of athletes who represent the US in international competition. Team USA competes in several prestigious events all over the world, such as the Pan American Games, World and American Zone Championships, World Games, QubicaAMF World Cup and others.
In addition, Team USA members are among the most visible ambassadors for the sport of bowling, making public appearances and providing bowling instruction throughout the year. The sport’s leaders continue to work hard toward their goal of adding bowling to the list of sports at the Olympic Games.
